Anderson and Robson came to know the love and grace of Jesus in the midst of poverty, abuse, and sin. Now transformed, they’ve become beacons of that same love and grace in one of the most notorious favelas in Rio de Janeiro, The City of God.

STEP 1: WATCH

Watch Disciples with your small group and allow time for reflection and observation after the film is finished.

STEP 2: READ

Read Ephesians 2:1-10 out loud with your group and allow time for reflection and observation of the passage of Scripture.

STEP 3: SHARE

Verses 1-3 discuss being “dead in trespasses and sins” and “children of wrath”. What does that mean?

Just as Anderson shared his sins in the film, what trespasses has God rescued you from? (Encourage openness and honesty.)

In verse 5, Paul writes that God “made us alive together with Christ”. Does he mean that in this life, the life to come, or both?

If we are saved by grace, when verse 10 states that we are “created in Christ Jesus for good works”, what does that mean and what implications does it have on your life today?
